Where is The Ranch?

I grew up surfing on the east coast and always dreamed of getting my feet wet at the then famous ranch (I think it was military land but not sure).. This was back in the late 60s and 70s.. And I haved in northern CA going on 30 plus years now and have never found it yet. Was just wanting to know where that was?
