Visitor from Europe

by davide di renzo
(milano - Italy)

Hi, my name is David. I'm 29 and i write from Milano -Italy-.

I was surfing on the web searching some information about surf in California and i stopped on this very nice site.

I've seen all information about surf spots along the coast but I need an advice: next year I'd like to come in California for 6 months for surfing, working and learning English. Can you suggest me a very good place to stay?I'm searching for a place where weather is good, waves are beautiful for learning surf and people are friendly...and also where the cost of living is good.

I was thinking at San Francisco, but what do you think about it?

Cheap? - Go to Crescent City

That is a tall order, especially when you throw in the cost of living. The coast is expensive, with the exception of far north places like Crescent City...which isn't as warm.

SF is just plain expensive and it is not the best place to learn to surf. Not saying it can't be done if you really want to visit SF.

You really just have to narrow down the other things you want to do in California, the places you want to see. San Diego County might be better if you want warm weather and good places to learn to surf..but again, it's not going to be cheap.
