surfmobiles

by Bill McCown
(Alta Loma, CA, USA)

In the 70's, we practically lived in Rocket Bob Querido's 67 VW Westfalia. Perfect. Eventually bought Troopers (2), cheap, relatively reliable, 4wd, and roomy enough. Now building an 82 chrysler station wagon. My son titled the car the "crappy chrysler station wagon with fake wood trim". I'm putting an 88 Shelby engine and manual trans in just for giggles. Practically any old car will do, so long as it's very reliable and easy to fix when it goes south. Something that you won't mind wet wetsuits in, something that can be dirty and you won't have to care. Just remember that you may wind up sleeping in it in Mexico. BMc
