surfing hurricane Ike at surf side tx

Accessed surf via boat and surfed offshore swells with literally up to 3 to 5 min rides.

Hours before Ike was suppose to make landfall a few brave souls strapped themselves into a 40ft baja and took off into the massive texas surf. With a total of about 35ft of surf boards we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We should have known considering that our shuttle was airing out every wave making us feel as though the hull was about to give. Anyway, the hull held and we made it out into what was some of the best big texas surf I have ever paddled into.

I caught a 15ftplus wave offshore and rode it for a few minutes until it died out and was forced to paddle in. Pretty much same situation for everyone. Once you caught one it was a useless attempt to try and get back out. so, whachathink
