It was the summer of 1963, I had just learned to surf with out killing myself. I lived at Vandenberg Village near the Airforce base and went to Lompoc High school.

Anyway I was trying to get up on a wave at Hunington pier when this dude cut me off. I later found out that the soon to be Great Dewey Weber had cut me off cause I was too slow to get up.
