Despite the poor surf reports and dreary appearance on the surf cams, I drove to Ocean Beach in a shear act of desperation. I thought I could motivate myself to get in the water. Then I cast my own eyes on the grey,crumbly, Lovecraftian horror before me and my thoughts drifted to The Thing That Should Not Be and The Great Old Ones. Needless to say I was not inspired and went to McDonald's instead.

Get a Gripe!

Get a gripe dude! When the surf sucks, suck it up and go for a swim. Swim to Live, Live to Surf is my motto. Then again I have another motto that it has to be more fun than it is cold... or was that for skiing? Anyway, dreary days at the beach are a hellava lot better than dreary days stuck in a cubicle in front of a computer, checking out the surf on our favorite webcams. I'd much rather see it suck in person than through the bloggisphere. You've heard the old saying, the worst day fishing is better than the best day working. My corollary is, Sucky Surf Sucks Less Than Bitch'n Bit Twiddling.
