I used to drive a Toyota Camry, 1993, I drove it for a whole year, while i was surfing up and down the Californian shore. From beaches like Trestles in San Diego, to the cold waters of Santa Barbara. I took with me my 6 feet, 5 fin, BC surfboard, 2 wet suits, 3.2 short sleeves, and 4.3 long sleeves, and a single pair of board shorts. My Camry was a four cylinder automatic, maybe 20 miles for the gallon, and 40$ tops the tank. I put the back seats down, and stuck my board across the back half of the car, from trunk out to the back seats. I had limousine tint on the back half of the car, so that no one could see my mess. I surfed all day, and at night i would adjust the passenger's seat all the way back, and put my board there for the night, while i slept on the back seats. Thank God for tinted windows.
I think a surfing car can be anything that holds your board, and gets you to the beach. whether its a VolksWagon beetle, or a H2 Hummer, it still works, when i surfed Venice beach, every one had huge vintage trucks, like continentals, jeeps, west falia, and more, i think that these cars are super nice to have, but its more of a statement, telling society "Even my car is a surfers car".
May you all surf and live long.
