Early Manufacturer?

by Rick
(San Antonio)

I am trying to find the name of a surfer who began making boards up in the Santa barbara area of california in the early sixties. His name began with an "R", I believe. He had ideas that affected the rest of the industry and he was a good surfer also.

Maybe if you would just list all the early surfers you know, I can recall his name. They were foam and fiberglass long boards. It was about the time of Bing and Dewey Weber boards. I used to have a photo of this guy, but I've since lost it. Thanks for any help you may give.
