I've surfed LM since 1980 and the crowds have definitely gotten worse. I long for the days when there were maybe 10 people in the water the entire beach. I think expanding the parking lot brought more folks to this spot. Although crowded, I have to say that the vibes (or lack thereof) are pretty mellow which makes this spot attractive to all. Now I pretty much surf dawn patrol as much as possible to avoid the hordes.
By the way, yesterday (10/23/07) the conditions were perfect....offshore winds, sunny & warm, and 3-4' waves (bigger over at roundhouse). Wish it was like that all the time. Lots of people in the water..doesn't anybody work during the midweek?
