Bluecoil Surfboard Review

Bluecoil Surfboard Deck

Bluecoil has warehouses in Santa Cruz and Ventura, California. You can buy boards directly from them. I bought this one for $417 w/tax. This is a quad fish surfboard with future fins.

For a 6'2" it is extremely floaty. Not only is it epoxy but it is glassed lightly and is quite thick toward the center. I like this board for days when I'm tired and I just want something easy to paddle but don't want to use a longboard. I like using boards that are all about the same length...and this one fits the bill.

The float does kill some of the performance. It feels the chop on the waves more than my slightly shorter more traditional quad fish. It is not quite as manueverable and won't make a steep drop as well. It also lacks the same drive. However, consider that it has significantly more paddle. So far, is seems to be great buy for a floatier board. As far as my main surfboard (quad fish types) goes, I think I will stick with brands like Mandala from Santa Cruz, CA.

Unlike surtech, this board actually has a stringer in it and the outside "touch" to it seems like a more tradional board than other epoxy boards.
